The region Via Lattea, often referred to as The Milky Way, is a winter sports area in the Italian and French Alps, located at the French-Italian border at Claviere/Montgenèvre. The impressive ski system comprises a whopping 400 km of slopes and Sauze D'Oulx offers very varied skiing where most of the skiing takes place in the surroundings of idyllic forest trails and many cozy restaurants. Also, when the Olympic Games were held here in 2006 much of the skilift system was completely modernised and in the area around Sestriere the lift system is especially effective.
